Hainan holds FTP promotion forum to attract Taiwan investment

China's Hainan province hosted an investment promotion conference in Shanghai's Qingpu distrcit on Aug 3 to entice Taiwan firms to invest in the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP).

More than sixty companies, including ASUS and Tingyi Holding Corp, participated and discussed industry development, as well as cooperation opportunities.

Liu Geng, deputy head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, said at the forum that Hainan has opened up and made full preparations for welcoming investors.

The forum served as an effective platform for enterprises to understand new policies regarding the Hainan FTP, as well as to conduct direct and in-depth conversations. It presented an overview of the development in Hainan province, as well as its exciting vision of the future. Relevant government departments, cities, counties, and key parks of Hainan province that participated in the event all revealed their "big moves," showcasing their policies and measures to companies, as well as their favorable business environment.

"The policies of the Hainan Free Trade Port are of high quality and are very attractive," said Wang Qiongzhi, chairperson of the board of pharmaceutical company CoWealth Group, who also expressed a desire to seek communication and cooperation opportunities in the field of medicine between Hainan and Taiwan.

Hainan boasts unique advantages in agriculture and ecology, which have great potential in the tourism, agriculture, and health industries, said Zhang Jianzhen, president of the Shanghai Association of Taiwan-Invested Enterprises. He added that the association might go on an inspection tour in Hainan to learn more about the Hainan Free Trade Port and to seek further development.
