The 220 kV total substation of Hainan Refinery's 1 million-ton ethylene project will be put into operation

On January 19, the operator Zheng Guibin reported to Wang Fei, the electrical professional manager of the ethylene project department, in the central control room of the 220 kV main substation of the Hainan Refinery and Chemical 1 million tons ethylene project (hereinafter referred to as the ethylene project) in the Yangpu Economic Development Zone. "Okay, continue to keep an eye on the operating parameters of the equipment." Wang Fei replied.

After the 220kV main substation, 110kV chemical first substation, and 110kV second chemical substation of the ethylene project were successfully powered, the project's power cells and air separation and air pressure 35kV substation were also successfully powered. It supplied power to the project's power boiler blower and induced draft fan, fire pump, air compressor and other equipment in advance.

In the central control room of the 220 kV main substation of the ethylene project, six operators are staring at the data on the computer screen, and from time to time they pick up the walkie-talkie to talk to their colleagues outside. "At present, all substation equipment is operating normally." Wang Fei told the Hainan Daily reporter.

The 220 kV main substation of the ethylene project is one of the important supporting equipments of the project. The electricity used after the ethylene project is put into operation in the future will be transported by this main substation. Wang Fei said that in order to ensure the safety of electricity consumption in the ethylene project, the voltage will be continuously reduced after the high-voltage electricity of Hainan Power Grid is transmitted to the main substation. That is, from 220 kV to 110 kV, then to 35 kV, and then to 10 kV through the 35 kV substation for the production equipment of the project. Among them, the 110kV chemical substation provides 35kV voltage to the power center of the ethylene project, and then it provides 10kV voltage to the power boiler. The 110kV chemical substation is responsible for providing 35kV voltage to the air separation and air compressor substation, and then it provides 10kV voltage to the air compressor and other equipment.

The 220 kV main substation of the ethylene project is an important part of the public works system, and it is also the first major item to be fully put into operation in the overall planning requirements of Hainan Refinery. The station has four 150 MVA main transformers in the current period and in the long-term, which is the largest indoor 220 kV substation currently under construction in our province. At the same time, in the power industry and petrochemical system in the province, it pioneered the use of split-type staggered layout for the 220kV main transformer, which reduced the construction area of 1667.8 square meters compared with the domestic power standard design station.

"The entire main substation adopts advanced, reliable, safe, energy-saving and environmentally friendly electrical primary and secondary equipment, with excellent technical and economic indicators." Wang Fei said that the chemical industry has extremely high requirements on the reliability and stability of the voltage. Once the power grid fluctuates, it is easy to cause safety production accidents. Therefore, the electricity standard of the chemical industry is the first-class electricity load standard. The primary core equipment of the main substation adopts the joint venture brand, and the combined electrical equipment of 220 kV, 110 kV and gas insulation is produced by Shanghai Siemens. The 220 kV mainly changed to Zhongshan ABB products, the 10 kV distribution cabinets were Xiamen ABB products, and the low-voltage switchboards were Zhenjiang Moeller products. The secondary core equipments are all domestic high-quality brands. The protection of 110 kV and above is unified into a dual configuration, and the protection, fault recording, metering and remote control devices are selected according to the version of the southern network. Based on the basic principles of information digitization, communication platform networking, management automation and monitoring intelligence, the station is equipped with advanced applications such as visual five defenses, intelligent inspection, expert diagnosis system, and equipment online monitoring system.

Affected by the COVID-19, the construction of the 220 kV main substation of the ethylene project did not start until May 28, 2020, which was three months later than the original plan. In order to recover the construction period, Hainan Refining and Chemical Co., Ltd. intervened in advance to help the construction unit optimize the construction plan and coordinate and solve the difficulties encountered in the construction process. At the same time, communicate with the equipment manufacturer, supply in advance, and immediately carry out debugging as soon as the equipment is in place. With the concerted efforts of all parties, the 220 kV main substation was delivered on December 24, 2021, which not only recovered the 3-month construction period delayed due to the impact of the epidemic, but also delivered 10 days ahead of schedule. It has laid a solid foundation for the subsequent two 110 kV chemical substations and substations in all regions of the plant to receive electricity.

When we walked out of the 220 kV main substation of the ethylene project, dozens of towers stood tall in front of us, and a nearly two-kilometer-long public pipe gallery traversed the entire project site, dozens of large and small storage tanks stand on the construction site, which was spectacular. It is reported that the entire ethylene project has fully entered the stage of equipment installation, and all working faces are in full swing, striving to achieve trial production on September 30 this year.
