Hainan Provincial Communications Investment Holding Co., Ltd. is now bidding for the survey and design of the reconstruction and expansion project of Paipu Interworking to Bailian Interworking section of G98 Circum-island Expressway, indicating that the reconstruction and expansion of the western line of G98 circum-island Expressway has also been put on the agenda.

It is understood that the project is a reconstruction and expansion project. The starting point of the route is about 3 km east of Longshan Farm, Paipu Town, Danzhou City, at the newly added Paipu Interchange on the G98 roundabout highway. It passes through Danzhou City, Lingao County and Chengmai County, along the existing G98 roundabout expressway, and ends at the junction of Chengmai and Haikou, where G98 roundabout Expressway and G225 Haiyu West Line cross at Bailian. The main line is 107.985 km long (44.948 km in Danzhou City, 32.300 km in Lingao County and 30.737 km in Chengmai County).

The main line of the project adopts the standard of two-way eight-lane expressway, the design speed is 100km/h, and the width of the subgrade is 42 meters. The connection line adopts the standard of two-way four-lane first-class highway, the design speed is 60 km/h, and the width of the subgrade is 24.5 meters. This project is divided into three survey and design bid sections: SJ01 bid, SJ02 bid and SJ03 bid, among which SJ02 bid is the overall coordination group.

It is understood that the construction of Hainan West Expressway (G98 West Expressway around the island) began in November 1995, and the whole line was opened to traffic in October 1999. In August 2010, the former Eastern Expressway, Western Expressway, Haikou Expressway and Sanya Expressway of Hainan Province, which belong to the national expressway network, were named as "G98 Hainan Island Expressway", forming a circular circle with a total length of 612.8 km. It is still the most important traffic artery of Hainan Province. (Hainan Daily reporter Shao Changchun)
