On the morning of October 10, the 2024 academic annual meeting of the Mariculture Branch of the Chinese Fisheries Society and the 16th National Aquaculture Breeding Academic Seminar of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences were held in Wenchang. More than 200 experts and scholars from aquaculture research institutes across the country, representatives from well-known domestic universities and business people gathered together to discuss the cutting-edge technology and the latest academic progress in the field of aquaculture.
With the theme of "Aquaculture seed industry, intelligent aquaculture, high-quality development", the conference has three sub-venues: "Aquaculture genetics and breeding", "Aquaculture and fishery facilities", and "Feed nutrition and disease prevention and control". It has built an exchange platform for experts, scholars, graduate students and enterprises to display scientific and technological innovation achievements, aiming to combine the innovation and technological advantages in the academic field with local advantages and industrial advantages, promote the transformation of scientific research achievements into product advantages and brand advantages, accelerate the cultivation of new quality productivity of fisheries, and expand the fishery industry.
At the meeting, Gui Jianfang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and researcher of the Institute of Hydrobiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, made a keynote report entitled "Innovation and future development of aquatic breeding biotechnology". Gui Jianfang told Hainan Daily's all-media reporter that Hainan can focus on the development of grouper, golden pomfret and other large mariculture fish industries. To promote the development of aquaculture seed industry, it is necessary to integrate the forces of scientific research units, schools, companies and enterprises, and form a cooperative mode of integration of production, universities and research. In response to the problem that traditional marine cage farming is vulnerable to natural disasters such as typhoons, he proposed that the smart farming model such as factory and laboratory is a new trend of future development, which can not only effectively reduce the loss caused by natural disasters, but also greatly improve the breeding efficiency and product quality.
Chen Songlin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and researcher of the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, believes that Hainan has unique advantages in marine fish farming, and its warm climate and excellent water quality provide ideal conditions for the aquaculture of marine fish such as grouper. With the increasing attention paid to the installation aquaculture technology, the future development prospect of Wenchang mariculture industrial park is broad.
It is reported that the fishery output value of Hainan in 2023 is 56.2 billion yuan (including the output value of seedlings). Hainan has unique climatic advantages, resource advantages and policy advantages in developing mariculture and aquaculture seed industry. At present, Hainan has become an important and far-reaching marine aquaculture and aquatic seed industry base. The high-level academic conference provided a platform for Hainan to display the latest scientific and technological achievements in the field of mariculture, and built a bridge to deepen industry-university-research cooperation and seek common development of the industry.
