Applause broke the silence of a thousand years. The new hall was completed, adding new colors to Dongpo's former residence. Recently, as an important project of the Second China (Hainan) Dongpo Cultural Tourism Conference, the Dongpo Guanglang nunnery memorial hall was unveiled, which is associated with the Guanglang nunnery site on the east side. When Arenga was first built, Dongpo wrote a poem called "New House". After nearly a thousand years, the world's admiration for Su Dongpo's feelings are increasing, and the protection and utilization of Dongpo culture is only increasing, and the "New House" is refreshed.

Located in Zhonghe Town, Danzhou City, Dongpo Guanglang nunnery memorial covers an area of about 14.4 mu, with a total construction area of 2318 square meters, including an exhibition hall and a visitor service center. The memorial hall as a whole presents the elegant atmosphere, grand and spectacular architectural style of the Song Dynasty, cornices and corners, gray tiles and white walls, under the green trees appear more antique. "We introduced the concept of 'Millennium New Residence', relying on historical data, and tried to restore the living atmosphere of Dongpo at that time." The buildings on the original site of Guanglang nunnery have collapsed many times, and have been rebuilt and expanded many times. After the Guanglang nunnery was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Danzhou City, is it better to protect the original site or to re-establish the building? On the one hand, provincial and municipal governments at all levels promote archaeological excavation, on the other hand, brainstorm and steadily demonstrate, and study and discuss the best protection and utilization plan. In May this year, the General Office of the Hainan Provincial People's Government issued the Three-year Action Plan for the Protection and Utilization of Dongpo Culture in Hainan Province (2024-2026), which clearly proposes the implementation of Guanglang nunnery's site display and the construction of Su Dongpo Memorial Hall.

Thanks to many efforts, the project, which is both in-situ preservation and reconstruction, began. "Our company started construction on May 8 this year and completed it in early November." Sun Guodong, executive manager of the Guanglang nunnery Dongpo Memorial Hall Project of China Construction First (Group) Co., Ltd. introduced that the initial project site was low-lying and the water formed a fish pond. The workers replaced the cultivated soil on the site and backfilled the foundation to the design elevation to prevent flooding. Affected by typhoon "Capricorn", water supply, power failure and road traffic obstruction occurred in the construction process, which delayed the construction progress. The company sent additional manpower to speed up the construction, increasing from about 90 staff members at the beginning to more than 230 people in the later stage, and the project was delivered on schedule.

Danzhou Museum director Huang Hailan introduced that after the official opening of the Dongpo Memorial Hall of Guanglang nunnery, it will be divided into three units to display Dongpo theme cultural relics exhibits, respectively, "What is life like everywhere", "Pour the wine and invite the guests","The infinite spring breeze comes from the sea". They fully demonstrate Dongpo's historical achievements in Danzhou for three years in promoting the change of customs and customs, the development of agricultural production, the establishment of education and medical care, and the promotion of national unity, demonstrating his generous and free attitude towards life.

"In order to maximize the restoration of Dongpo's life in Danzhou, a grove of Guanglang trees has been replanted on the memorial side, and thatched huts and cattle pens have been built." Sheng Yun introduced that in addition, the archaeological exhibition area will also be set up in Guanglang nunnery site. After two excavations in 2022 and 2023, more than 20 pieces of porcelain, pottery, copper coins and other cultural relics were unearthed from the original site of Guanglang nunnery. Together with the site itself, they will tell the story of what happened in this land over thousands of years.

When Dongpo came to Danzhou more than 900 years ago, it was a wild place with poor traffic. Today, the road in front of the Guanglang nunnery memorial is straight and smooth, connecting the museum with Zhonghe Ancient Town and Dongpo Academy. Thousands of "Dongpo fans" ushered in a new "punch card" into the life of Dongpo and the spirit of Dongpo.

"After Dongpo moved for thousands of years, the old site is suddenly spring." Han Guoqiang, consultant of Hainan Su Studies Research Institute, wrote poems for the memorial hall of Dongpo Guanglang nunnery. In his view, this is a long-awaited happy event for Danzhou people, and also a powerful expression of the protection and utilization of Dongpo culture.

The relevant person in charge of Danzhou Tourism and Culture Bureau introduced that in the future, they will build the Dongpo Guanglang nunnery memorial into an important place to cherish the memory of the ancients and remember the past. They will also promote the organic integration of the memorial hall with the Danzhou City and Dongpo Academy, connect the surrounding cultural resources, and actively build the brand of Dongpo cultural tourism and research with Hainan characteristics.
