The pilot project to expand the opening up of value-added telecommunications services in Hainan was officially launched

The reporter learned from the provincial communications Administration that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially launched the pilot work of expanding the opening up of value-added telecommunications services in Hainan and other four places on October 23.

The four pilots are the Beijing Comprehensive Demonstration Zone for expanding the opening up of the service industry, the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone, the new Lingang Area and the leading area for socialist modernization, the Hainan Free Trade Port, and the Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration zone for socialism with Chinese characteristics.

On the same day, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a reply to Hainan and other four places to carry out the pilot. After the implementation of the pilot, foreign-funded enterprises can operate telecommunications services such as Internet data centers (IDC), online data processing and transaction processing in the pilot areas, deeply participate in China's computing power, cloud services and other markets, and jointly promote the development of China's digital industry.

This time, Hainan and other four regions officially launched the pilot of value-added telecom services to expand the opening to the outside world, marking a new stage of China's telecom industry opening to the outside world.

The head of the provincial communications Administration said that Hainan is a key area for foreign investment in the telecommunications industry. Since April 10, 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "Notice on the Pilot Work of carrying out Value-added Telecommunications Services to Expand the opening up to the Outside World", many foreign investors have expressed their business intentions to Hainan for the first time. This initiative not only marks a new stage of opening up of China's telecom market to the outside world, but also marks another important step in the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port, which has far-reaching significance for promoting the development of Hainan's digital economy and improving its international competitiveness.
