The 40-day Spring Festival travel rush came to an end on February 22. The reporter learned from Hainan Airport Group, a unit of Hainan Holding, that during the Spring Festival this year, the company's three major airports in the island completed 47,200 flights, with a passenger throughput of 7.888 million people, an increase of 10% and 3%, respectively, and the number of flights and passenger throughput reached a record high, which welcomed a good start in the first quarter. The company has delivered 10,477 flights, 905,000 vehicles and 3,200,400 passengers in total. A total of 5.336 million passengers arrived and departed on the railway.
This year's Spring Festival rush, Hainan's tourism market continues to maintain the hot momentum of previous years, and the demand for personnel transportation in and out of the island is strong. Haikou Meilan Airport has completed a total of 27,100 flights and a passenger throughput of 4.174 million. Qionghai Boao Airport has completed 2,160 flights with a passenger throughput of 292,000.
With the expansion of China's "visa-free circle of friends" and the superimposition of visa-free entry policies for 59 countries in Hainan Free Trade Port, foreign tourists have chosen to come to Hainan for the New Year and feel the first "World Intangible Cultural Heritage Version" Spring Festival.
As of February 22, since the beginning of this year, the overseas passenger throughput of Meilan Airport in Haikou, Sanya Phoenix and Qionghai Boao Airport has reached nearly 350,000 passengers, guaranteeing 2,821 international flights, an increase of 34.9% and 32.75% year-on-year, and the passenger sources cover 20 countries and regions.
On February 23, the reporter learned from Hainan Strait Shipping Co., Ltd. that during the Spring Festival travel rush in 2025, the Strait Shipping Company sent a total of 10,477 flights, 905,000 vehicles and 3,200,400 passengers.
In terms of railways, a total of 5.336 million passengers arrived and left on the Hainan railway this year. During the Spring Festival travel rush, the number of passengers sent to four stations -- Boao, Shenzhou, Hele and Tianya Haijiao -- reached a record high.
