The first autonomous driving demonstration project integrating transportation and tourism in Hainan has been launched

On April 29th, Hainan Automobile Group, a subsidiary of Hainan Tourism Investment, held a vehicle handover ceremony for the "Autonomous Driving Transportation and Tourism Integration Demonstration Project" at Haikou Passenger Transport Terminal. This marks the implementation of the first "autonomous driving + tourism transportation" integration demonstration project in our province, injecting new impetus into the coordinated development of smart transportation and tourism industries in the Hainan Free Trade Port.

On the spot, Hainan Tourism Car Rental, a subsidiary of Hainan Automobile Group, the operation company of the project, received the "smart key" from its partner Apollo and jointly activated the vehicles of the autonomous driving car project, opening a new chapter in Hainan's travel. It is learned that the project was officially signed at the 5th China International Consumer Goods Fair recently and opened to the public for experience.

This autonomous driving demonstration project integrating transportation and tourism combines autonomous driving technology with Hainan's tourism resource endowment. Relying on the Hainan Island Ring Tourism Road, it builds an "autonomous driving + tourism" scenario and explores new applications of autonomous driving in tourism consumption and other scenarios.

The autonomous driving vehicle handed over this time is the sixth-generation unmanned vehicle under Apollo, integrating cutting-edge technologies such as high-precision positioning, multi-sensor fusion perception, and vehicle-road coordination, which can precisely handle complex urban road and scenic area scenarios.

It is learned that the first phase of this project will focus on key tourist areas in Haikou and create an autonomous driving demonstration special line covering "airport - hotel - scenic area - shopping". In the future, they plan to expand characteristic cultural and tourism routes in places like Sanya, Qionghai and Danzhou, and explore digital services such as "reservation travel" and "one-click tour of Hainan", allowing the public to experience future travel up close.
