Resources
The county has fertile soil and abundant resources, and it has long been dubbed the "land of fish and rice." Rich in rice, seeds, melons, bananas and rubber, the county's famous dishes include roasted suckling pigs and Duowen water spinach.

Its coastline is 116.84 km long. There are 11 harbors, including the natural harbors of Jinpai, Xinying, Diaolou and Huanglong.

The intertidal zone mud flat of the county is about 4,000 hectares, which is good for developing the fishing industry. The county's output and output value of marine fishing rank first in the province. Based on its unique customs and historical relics, the county was named "the homeland of Chinese folk art," "the home to Hainan Tai Chi" and "the land of Chinese poems." The county's fisherman's folk song "Li Li Mei" and its puppet shows are national intangible cultural heritage items.
