Overview
Haikou, also known as the "Coconut City," located in the northern part of Hainan Island, is the capital city of Hainan province, a strategic pivot city in thehttp://www.haikou.gov.cn/enhaikou/ Belt and Road Initiative and the core city of the Hainan Free Trade Port. It is the biggest transport hub on the island and the political, economic, technological and cultural center of Hainan province.

Covering 3,119 square kilometers, Haikou has jurisdiction over the four districts of Xiuying, Longhua, Qiongshan and Meilan, as well as 21 sub-district, 22 towns, 211 communities and 248 administrative villages. The city's resident population is 2.3 million.

Resources
As a national historical and cultural city, as well as a famous tropical coastal tourist destination, Haikou has many cultural attractions, such as the Five-lord Temple, Hairui Tomb, Qilou Old Street, Xiuying Fort and Qiongtai Academy. This fascinating city features stunningly beautiful scenic promenades, blue skies, seas, sunshine, sandy beaches and coconut palm trees. With its strong tropical seaside charm, Haikou is becoming renowned for its high quality of life and for being a Chinese residential paradise.

Its convenient transportation further promotes the city's tourism and economic development. Haikou Meilan International Airport operates a total of 280 routes, including 251 domestic routes, and newly-opened flights to many small and medium-sized cities such as Bazhong, Wushan, Sanming, Yulin, Yibin, Nanchong and Hechi. Haikou's accessibility to third- and fourth-tier cities continues to increase as coverage of the domestic airline network increasingly expands.
