Overview
Baoting Li and Miao autonomous county is situated at the north face of the Wuzhi Mountain and connects with Sanya on the south and Wuzhishan on the north. The county covers an area of 1,153.24 square kilometers, accounting for 3.4 percent of Hainan province's land area. The Li and Miao ethnic groups are the residents of Baoting county for generations.

Resources
Baoting county is rich in natural and tourism resources. With an 85.2 percent of forest coverage rate, the county is a vital base in China for traditional Chinese herbal medicines. It not only has a tropical rainforest but also natural hot springs. What's more, the county also has the 23 km-long Xianlong Karst cave, and Xian'an stone forest, the largest tropical Karst landform.

The county is rated as an excellent national model in terms of its efforts invested in health services and the progress made in shaping a modern city.

It is famous for its cultural heritage such as drilling wood for fire, the traditional brocade of the Li ethnic group, making cloth from tree bark and traditional Li bamboo musical instruments, which have all been added to the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. As a county with many ethnic groups, Baoting is also known for its Chinese folk arts and serves as a platform of cultural exchange on both sides of the Taiwan Straits.

Popular tourist attractions in the county are the Yanoda Rainforest Cultural Tourism Zone, the Binlang Valley Cultural Tourism Zone, the Qixianling Hot Springs and National Forest Park.
