Overview
Situated in southeastern Hainan province, Lingshui is a city-level county with a population of nearly 400,000. It is mainly inhabited by the Li, Han and Miao people on the basis of "small-scale settlement."

Lingshui Li autonomous county connects with Wanning city to the northeast, and borders with Qiongzhong county to the north. To the northwest lies Baoting county, and to the southeast is Sanya city, which is in close proximity to the South China Sea. With a coastline of 118.57 kilometers, Lingshui has a total land area of 1,128 square kilometers.

Lingshui county enjoys a mild climate and abundant sunshine, with an average annual temperature of around 25 C. Known as the "natural greenhouse of the South," it is a nationally renowned base for "Nanfan" seed breeding, efficient tropical agriculture and off-season fruits and vegetables. It ranks among China's top 10 counties for pollution-free fruits and vegetables. The county boasts rich natural resources, including land, forests, minerals, hydropower, marine resources, tourism and tropical crops.

Located along the 18°N latitude, a prime tourism belt, Lingshui is blessed with exceptional natural endowments. Its key scenic highlights are known as "three bays, three islands, two lagoons, two hot springs, one mountain and one river," referring to Qingshui Bay, Xiangshui Bay, Tufu Bay, Boundary Island, Nanwan Monkey Islet, Coconut Island, Xincun Lagoon, Li'an Lagoon, Gaofeng Hot Spring, Nanping Hot Spring, Diaoluo Mountain and the Lingshui River. Among them, Nanwan Monkey Islet is home to China's only national nature reserve for Chinese macaques.
