Qiongzhong Li and Miao autonomous county is located in the central part of Hainan, nestled at the northern foot of the Wuzhi Mountain. With a unique geographic position, it borders nine other cities and counties, including Qionghai and Wanning. Now fully integrated into Hainan's one-hour economic circle, it serves as a key land transportation hub connecting the north-south and east-west axes of the island.
Qiongzhong boasts exceptionally favorable natural conditions. Situated on the northern edge of the tropical oceanic monsoon climate zone, it enjoys long summers without extreme heat and short winters without severe cold.
It ranks among the top in the province for annual rainfall. The region is home to several national and provincial-level forest areas and nature reserves, including the Wuzhi Mountain, Limu Mountain, Diaoluo Mountain and Yingge Mountains, with a forest coverage rate as high as 86.17 percent. It is renowned as a "sanctuary for the soul."
Qiongzhong has immense potential for efficient tropical agriculture. A total of approximately 2,867 hectares of its land has been selected as part of China's first batch of naturally selenium-rich soil. Its agarwood is famed both in China and abroad. Local specialties such as Qiongzhong green oranges, Qiongzhong wild chickens and Qiongzhong honey have all received national geographical indication certification.
With exceptional advantages for developing the forest wellness industry, Qiongzhong is home to the Baihualing tropical rainforest, and has been designated as a national-level demonstration county for holistic forest wellness. It has also been recognized as a "national hygienic county," a “provincial civilized city,” a "provincial forest city" and awarded the title of "China's natural oxygen bar."
