3.3 million tourists revel in Sanya during Spring Festival

Boom times came during the 2026 Spring Festival holiday to Sanya.

It attracted some 3.31 million tourists from both at home and abroad, representing a hefty 14.64 percent increase on the previous year.

Overall, visitors spent a total of 8.957 billion yuan ($1.3 billion), which was up 18.72 percent year-on-year.

During the Spring Festival holiday, Sanya Railway Station saw about 687,700 passenger trips, a 27.29 percent surge on the previous year. Elsewhere, Sanya Phoenix International Airport handled around 843,300 arrivals and departures, up 9.44 percent.

According to the Sanya Commerce Bureau, the total sales at the city's four duty-free shops hit 1.734 billion yuan on Feb 15-22 — a whopping 184.7 percent increase on the same period last year.
