Ranking top three on the List of China’s Private Universities, University of Sanya (USY) is a comprehensive university located in Sanya, Hainan province. USY has 25 schools offering 61 undergraduate programs and 10 master programs which cover nine disciplines encompassing Law, Literature, Economics, Management, Engineering, Science, Agriculture and Education etc. USY accommodates a student population of over 25,000 (both undergraduate and graduate). The beautiful campus covers an area of 200 hectares and has been facilitated with a variety of labs, an arts center, libraries, swimming pool, stadiums, as well as basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, hospital, cinema, supermarkets, shops, student canteens, food kiosks, post office, delivery hubs, and printing centers. USY has provided bachelor and master’s degree programs and Chinese language training programs for international students since 2011 and students from more than 10 countries including Russia, France, the UK, the USA, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Nepal, Burundi, Ghana have been enrolled into USY.

Brief Introduction and Application Procedure for the Chinese Language Course in 2024

The Chinese Language Course for international students is a non-degree program for international students who love Chinese language and culture and have the need to learn Chinese language, which is taught by teachers from the School of Humanities and Communication of USY. The teachers will assess the Chinese proficiency level of the students and classify them into classes, personalize the curriculum, and help them improve their Chinese language skills through listening, speaking, reading, and writing. A certificate of completion will be issued upon completion of the program.

The applicants should send their application to International Department at University of Sanya before January 5th, 2025 for Spring term or May 15th, 2025 for Fall term. Application and registration information can be emailed to: guojichu@sanyau.edu.cn

3. Qualifications
3.1 Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals, over the age of 18 and in good health.
3.2 Applicants shall be interested in Chinese language, respect Chinese culture and abide by Chinese laws.
3.3 Applicants must not be currently studying at universities in China.

4. Application Materials
The applicants must fill in and provide the following materials truly and correctly.
4.1 Copy of valid passport. A clearly visible copy of your valid passport with name, photo, birthdate, place of birth, date of issue and date of expiry.
4.2 Digital ID photo with white background, JPG format.
4.3 Highest diploma and score records. If applicants are university students or already employed, they should also provide documents of student certificate or certificate of employment. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
4.4 Original document or photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (must be issued by Chinese quarantine authority) received within 6 months. (The physical examination must be done at the qualified hospital and the form must be filled in by the hospital's doctor. No applicants are allowed to fill in the form.)
4.5 Non-criminal record. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

4.8 Student commitment letter.

5. Fees

Other fees need to be self-afforded

· Registration fee: 400 Yuan ($55.8)

· International travel expenses

· Physical check expenses: 343 Yuan ($47.8)

· Residence permit expense: 800 Yuan ($111.6)/year

· Insurance fee: 400 Yuan ($55.8) for half year, 800 Yuan ($111.6) for one year

· Accommodation: 2,800 Yuan ($390.7)/academic year for double room

6. Approval and Notification
6.1 Applicants may check the application process and results via email.

6.2 University of Sanya will be responsible for verifying application information and report to the Department of Education of Hainan Province. Once approved by Hainan Provincial Government, the applicants will receive "Admission Letter" and "Visa Application Form for Study in China" (JW202).

7. Registration
International students must register at University of Sanya at the specified time in late February or early September of 2025 according to the notification of USY. Otherwise, it will be considered as voluntarily giving up enrollment when time of absence exceeds two weeks. If the application materials are found to be fraudulent, the university has the right to cancel the student's admission qualifications.
New international students should go to Sanya Health and Quarantine Bureau for physical examination within three working days after registration. Those who are confirmed by physical examination to be suffering from serious mental disorders, infectious tuberculosis or other infectious diseases that may cause serious harm to public health as stipulated in the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People’s Republic of China shall be dealt with by the public security department according to law. Resolutely prevent infected students from coming to school with illness, and must be diagnosed by the hospital to prove that they have recovered and no longer have infectious hazards before they are allowed to come to the university.
After registration, based on the medical examination results of the Sanya Quarantine Bureau, the visa application letter issued by the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, and other necessary materials, go to the Sanya City Public Security Bureau to apply for a residence permit within 30 days of entering the country.
