A legal DRIVE in Hainan province for overseas motor vehicle drivers is POSSIBLE！

Overseas drivers (including those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) entering for a short-term stay are eligible to apply for a temporary motor vehicle driving permit with a validity period of three months. If the period of stay exceeds three months, the validity period can be extended to one year.

WHERE to apply for the temporary driving permit?

▷ In person: At traffic management service stations at Hainan entry-exit ports

▷ In person: At local vehicle management office of your selected residence

WHAT documents are necessary for the application?

☆ Passport or other valid entry & exit ID

☆ Foreign driver’s license with certified Chinese translation

☆ Two recent 1-inch color photos (white background, half-length, full-face, bareheaded)

COST for the temporary driving permit
