Driving yourself through Hainan's tropical landscapes is super cool. Here's a brief guide covering the procedures of renting a car on China's island paradise.

WHERE to rent a car?

Online: Official websites, apps, WeChat mini-programs of car rental companies; Third-party e-commerce platforms

Car rental companies: CAR Inc, eHi, etc.

Third-party e-commerce platforms: Ctrip, Fliggy, etc.

(Note: These car rental services are provided by independent third-party companies and are not affiliated with the government. While they are popular choices, customers are strongly recommended to check customer reviews before making a reservation.)

In person: Car rental branches at airports, train stations, ports, and downtown areas.

The PROCESS for car rental:

Select a car rental company with a good reputation, then register and get verified.

Choose the appropriate vehicle.

Consider personal driving preferences, passenger capacity, luggage volume, travel duration, and rental budget.

Pick up the car.

Thoroughly check its exterior and interior for any damage, and promptly inform the rental company of any issues.

Return the car.

Recheck its exterior and interior and immediately report any problems to the rental company.

Settle the bill.
