Typhoon Saudel: Hainan issues blue warning for geological disaster risks

The Department of Natural Resources and Planning of Hainan Province and the Hainan Meteorological Bureau jointly issued a Level IV (blue) warning for geological disaster risks at 7 am on Sept 2.

From 8 am on Sept 2 to 8 am on Sept 3, rainfall-triggered geological disasters were considered a risk in parts of Sanya, Wuzhishan, Dongfang, Baisha Li autonomous county, Changjiang Li autonomous county and Ledong Li autonomous county.

The areas that could be affected include Yazhou district, Tianya district and Yucai Ecological Zone in Sanya; Maodao township and Shuiman township in Wuzhishan; Donghe town and Jiangbian township in Dongfang; Da'an town, Yacha town, Yuanmen township, Bangxi town, Qingsong township, Nankai township and Rongbang township in Baisha; Qicha town, Chahe town, Wangxia township and Shilu town in Changjiang; and Wanchong town, Jianfeng town and Qianjia town in Ledong.

Residents and visitors in the blue-warning areas are advised to monitor changes in the warning information, pay attention to nearby warning signs, and avoid staying in high-risk areas such as valleys, slopes and steep cliffs.

Local governments and relevant departments, including those responsible for natural resources, water resources, transport, culture and tourism, and housing and urban-rural development, have been urged to strengthen monitoring and inspection of geological hazards in the areas, promptly assess risks and take action in the event of an emergency to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
