Danzhou, a city in the western part of China's southernmost Hainan province, recently entered into a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement with Hainan Power Grid Co Ltd, Hainan Nuclear Power Co Ltd and Huaneng Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Co Ltd to speed up the city's green development.

Under this partnership, the city and the companies will cooperate in building an innovative energy system that combines a number of energy sources and helps the city to advance toward the clean energy goals.

The focus will be on upgrading the power grid, enhancing the nuclear power supply and heating and developing new materials for nuclear energy.

These efforts are intended to drive the low-carbon transformation of the city and nearby Yangpu Port industrial area. They aim to help Danzhou and the Yangpu economic hub become a zero-carbon model in the Hainan Free Trade Port — leveraging green energy to support broad carbon reduction initiatives.
