Hainan firms shift focus from products to supply chains at expo

For many Hainan companies attending the China International Supply Chain Expo in Beijing, the event has become more than a platform to show products — it’s encouraging businesses to present their entire industrial and supply chains to potential partners and investors.

At the stand run by Chia Tai (Hainan) Xinglong Coffee Industry Development Co Ltd, visitors showed a keen interest. They not only examined the flavor of Hainan coffee, but also wanted to know where the coffee beans are sourced, how they are processed and how products are exported.

The company imports premium coffee beans from Brazil, Ethiopia and Colombia for processing in Wanning, in Hainan province, before selling them in domestic and overseas markets.

Representatives said the Hainan Free Trade Port's preferential tariff policies and efficient customs services had strengthened the competitiveness of its processed coffee products internationally.

Similar changes were seen across the Hainan exhibition area. Hainan State Farms showcased its integrated agricultural industry chain from production to consumer markets.

Meanwhile, Hainan Commercial Aerospace Technology Tourism Co Ltd highlighted the integration of commercial space development with cultural tourism and Hainan Lionfish Deep-Sea Technology Co Ltd demonstrated its one-stop procurement platform for deep-sea equipment.

Yiling Medical Technology Group also attracted strong interest by presenting its comprehensive health management system rather than individual products.

During the expo, the company held discussions with more than 20 domestic and international partners, with over 10 expressing their intention to visit Hainan for further business.

For Li Yue, chairman and general manager of Fuyao Xingmei (Hainan) Technology, the expo highlighted the importance of integrating innovative products into broader industrial ecosystems.

After discussing supply chain cooperation with an investor, Li said he realized that many visitors were not ordinary consumers but were investors, distributors and upstream or downstream partners looking for reliable supply chain solutions.

"Excellent products need to become part of a more complete industrial chain in order to achieve sustainable growth," Li said. "The expo has encouraged us to think beyond individual products and position ourselves within a broader global supply chain."
