Excitement and anticipation are building in the run-up to the 7th Hainan Sports Games, which will officially kick off on Aug 16 in the county-level city of Qionghai, located on the eastern coast of China's southernmost Hainan province.

As the region's highest-spec, biggest and most influential sport event, this year's Games are centered on public benefit and inclusive participation. Bringing together sports talent from across Hainan, the event marks a vibrant new chapter in the integrated development of public fitness and competitive sports in the Hainan Free Trade Port.

The Games feature an impressive lineup and a rich array of competitions, attracting over 4,200 athletes from 18 delegations across the province to compete in 18 sports and 21 disciplines.

The Games will provide a comprehensive showcase of Hainan's young sporting talent and the achievements of its grassroots sports programs.

Embracing the core philosophy of "sports for all and hosting the Games for the public benefit", the organizers have removed spectator barriers by opening every competitive and grassroots event to the public free of charge.

This is to enable residents to experience the thrill of athletic competition firsthand, share in local sporting progress and enjoy a greater sense of participation and fulfillment.

Serving as the main venue for the Games, the Qionghai Cultural and Sports Center is fully committed to ensuring the smooth staging of all the events.

Featuring a state-of-the-art gymnasium and a stadium that complement each other's functions, the modern complex boasts top-standard venues and athletic fields, as well as comprehensive support facilities — providing athletes from across the province with a great springboard to strive for excellence and to push their limits.

In recent years, the Qionghai Cultural and Sports Center has hosted a variety of major sports events and cultural activities, ranging from local signature soccer leagues to large-scale entertainment performances.

Having repeatedly proven its operational capabilities through high-profile, high-intensity events, the center is widely said to be a testament to Qionghai's continuously upgraded public service capacity and cultural-sports infrastructure.

Beyond athletic competition, the Games are expected to serve as a powerful catalyst for urban development. As such, the Qionghai Cultural and Sports Center continues to revitalize public sports and cultural resources — expanding its functions across competitive sports, cultural performances, public fitness, and community recreation to inject the city's public spaces with lasting vitality.

With the preparations entering their final lap, Qionghai is well and truly gearing up to welcome the opening of the 7th Hainan Sports Games. As athletes prepare to strive for excellence and test their skills, the Games promise to deliver exciting competitions, high-quality service, and a vibrant community atmosphere — charting a new chapter for sports in Hainan while infusing fresh energy into the Hainan Free Trade Port.
