This guide provides essential information to overseas organizations and individuals on applying for approval to conduct investigations of intangible cultural heritage in China.

Basic requirements
The proposed investigations shall contribute to the protection and research of intangible cultural heritage in China and promote international cultural and academic exchanges.

Domestic academic institutions cooperating in the investigations shall have an established foundation and research achievements in the field of intangible cultural heritage, possess relevant experts in the proposed field of research and have experience and expertise in conducting field investigations.

Overseas organizations shall be institutions or organizations engaged in intangible cultural heritage-related work and shall possess experts in the relevant field of research. Overseas individuals shall be professionals in the field of intangible cultural heritage.

Overseas organizations conducting investigations of intangible cultural heritage in China shall cooperate with domestic academic research institutions specializing in intangible cultural heritage.

Required materials
1. Application form for investigations of intangible cultural heritage by overseas organizations or individuals;
2. Cooperation agreement with domestic academic research institutions on intangible cultural heritage.
