Hainan launches digital payment service map for better experience

The Hainan branch of the People's Bank of China, in collaboration with UnionPay, has launched the Hainan Payment Service Electronic Map on the Nihao China app, offering overseas visitors a one-stop guide to payment services across the province.

The map provides essential information on ATM locations, bank account services and currency exchange outlets, as well as details on airport payment demonstration zones that offer integrated services for international travelers.

Designed to make travel in China more convenient, the map integrates multiple functions, including payment tools, travel services, smart navigation, and cultural and tourism information, helping users enjoy a smoother and more efficient journey in Hainan.

Visitors can access the map by clicking "Payment Methods" on the Nihao China app.

With built-in navigation and an intuitive interface, the digital map allows international visitors to easily locate and use payment services throughout the island.

Key features include:

1. ATM cash withdrawal
Users can locate ATMs that support UnionPay, Visa and Mastercard cards. Cash withdrawals in renminbi are available at ATMs displaying the relevant logos.

2. Mobile payment
The map offers guidance on downloading and using major mobile payment platforms such as UnionPay QuickPass, Alipay and WeChat Pay, as well as supported overseas e-wallets.

3. Account services
Locations of bank branches across Hainan are provided, where visitors can open or manage accounts by presenting valid identification documents, including passports.

4. Currency exchange
The map lists banks, licensed money changers, affiliated agencies and self-service machines that offer currency exchange services. Available currencies may vary by location.

5. Digital yuan (e-CNY)
Users can find instructions on downloading and using the e-CNY app to experience China's digital currency in daily transactions.

6. Airport payment demonstration zones
Digital payment experience zones at Haikou and Sanya airports allow travelers to try various payment methods upon arrival or before departure.
