More than 900 medical team members from Hainan rushed to Shanghai

On April 3, more than 900 medical team members from Hainan rushed to Shanghai. This distance is more than 2,000 kilometers, and the friendship between "sea" and "sea" is strong and profound. This time, more than 200 medical staff in the medical team of Hainan Province to support Shanghai's fight against the COVID-19 came from medical institutions that helped Hainan in Shanghai. "The experts in Shanghai have given up their families for many years to help us improve our medical level. Now Shanghai needs help, and we are bound to do so!". Xu Peixian, a nurse from the Department of Endocrinology, Haikou Orthopedics and Diabetes Hospital, Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital, said this "reward of love".

Since 2012, a total of 11 Shanghai medical institutions and 1 Shanghai medical college have continued to help Hainan Medical. Hundreds of Shanghai doctors are stationed in Hainan or travel to and from Hainan countless times to help Hainan medical institutions, improve Hainan's medical level, and help Hainan patients "stay out of the island when they are seriously ill." These include Zhang Zhiyuan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, director of the National Center for Stomatology, and expert in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Ninth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine. Liu Jinfen, former director of Shanghai Children's Medical Center affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, and special consultant of pediatric cardiothoracic surgery at Sanya Maternal and Child Health Hospital.

"I have a lot of fate with Shanghai!" said Hong Ri, director of breast surgery at Shanghai Children's Medical Center Sanya Women's and Children's Hospital (Sanya Maternal and Child Health Hospital). As a member of the medical team, Hong Ri obtained a doctorate degree in Shanghai from 2003 to 2008. In 2016, he entered the Sanya Maternal and Child Health Hospital and opened breast surgery. "I was very impressed. When I first arrived at the hospital, there was no breast surgery. At that time, there was no one, no medicine, and no equipment. Such patients either went to Haikou or other provinces." Hong Ri told reporters that when he first went to the hospital, the number of people who were diagnosed and treated was in the single digits every day. In 2017, Shanghai Children's Medical Center assisted Sanya Maternal and Child Health Hospital. "With the help of experts in Shanghai in recent years, it can be said that the hospital has made a qualitative leap. No matter in terms of technology, management or the rescue of children with congenital heart disease, the hospital has improved rapidly." Hong Ri said that from December 2020 to May 2021, he went to the Shao Zhimin team of the Breast Department of Fudan University Affiliated Cancer Hospital for further study for half a year. Today, the daily outpatient volume of breast surgery remains at more than 80 to 100 people.

Zhou Manzhen, a nurse in the operating room of the Haikou Orthopedics and Diabetes Hospital of Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital, worked in the hospital when it opened in 2017. "I am from Lingshui, and I am particularly aware that there is no orthopaedic and diabetes hospital in Hainan. Until experts from Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital come to entrust the hospital, patients with orthopedics and diabetes do not need to leave the island for treatment!" Zhou Manzhen said that when the hospital carried out the first joint robotic surgery in Hainan Province, she cooperated in the operating room. "I feel very proud that Hainan also has such advanced technology." In 2018, Zhou Manzhen also went to Shanghai Sixth Academy for further study for two and a half months. "In addition to the improvement in technology, I also gained the love between teachers and students. The teachers in Shanghai are very good to us and teach us technology without reservation." Zhou Manzhen said that many well-known domestic experts from Shanghai No. 6 Hospital are selflessly stationed in Hainan's hospitals far away from their hometowns, and even attracted many patients from other provinces to come to Hainan to see a doctor, which has always moved the local medical staff.

Xu Peixian also went to Shanghai for 3 months of training in 2020. "My expertise has improved a lot!". Xu Peixian said that many medical staff in the hospital volunteered to sign up to help Shanghai. "We have always been grateful for the dedication of medical experts in Shanghai to Hainan. During this epidemic, many experts from Shanghai were unable to go home to visit, and still insisted on serving patients in Hainan. When Shanghai needs it, it is our turn to give back this love!" Before he finished speaking, Xu Peixian and his teammates, who had already arrived in Shanghai, took their luggage and boarded the car to the hotel, ready to "fight" against the Shanghai epidemic with this deep feeling!
